A band that gives hope that rock n roll is kept alive. A band that maintains the 80s melody in their songs. And as the band themselves mention, they have similarities to Ghost, Def Leppard and Tina Turner, so they are a perfect match for people like myself who listen to all these artists above! Get to know the German band Jäst that I had the honor of interviewing!
Can you guys briefly explain who you are and where you're from?
We are the band JÄST from Germany, consisting of the members:
🎤 **Jessica Conte** (Uriah Heep) - vocals
🎸 **Axel Ritt** (Ex-Grave Digger, Domain, Kingdom) - guitar
🎸 **Steven Wussow** (Orden Ogan, Ex-Xandria) - bass
🥁 **Timmi Breideband** (Hämatom, Ex-Bonfire, Ex-Freedom Call) - drums
As you can see, the individual band members have been in the scene for many years and therefore have the relevant experience in the business.
When was the band formed?
The band was formed in 2024.
We don't release an album, but a new single every 6-8 weeks, so we always have new music at the start throughout the year and are much closer to the fans. However, we will release an album with all the songs and a lot of bonus material after about 10 tracks, but the format of "a new album every 2-3 years" has had its day in our eyes.
For our future fans who don't know us yet, we have started to release a new EP every 8 weeks, which summarizes the previous singles and thus provides a more compact introduction. This means that we release a new record every 4 weeks, alternating between a single and then another EP.
What kind of music do you do and who would you recommend your music to?
With our musical style “80s AOR Reboot” we bring the classic era of melodic rock into the here and now. Our motto, **“Bring Rock Back To Radio ”**, stands for our mission to bring catchy hooks, strong melodies and powerful live shows back into the spotlight.
Do you have any bands/artists that inspire you?
They say our style is “GHOST meets DEF LEPPARD meets TINA TURNER”, so you could say we have an affinity to these artists.
Do you guys have a favorite song that you have produced, if so which one?
As we release a new single every two months, everyone has to be strong enough to stand on their own. In an album you have 2-3 good tracks, the rest is filler. We don't have that luxury, so we do our best for every track and that's why we don't have a favorite track.
Maybe “HEARTLIGHT” stands out because it's our first and most successful track so far.
Do you have some new music coming up and when?
Yep, our new single will be released May 9th. The promotion will be kicked off upcoming week.
What are your goals at the moment?
We want to raise JÄST's profile to the level of our previous bands and beyond.
I think this can be interesting for our readers. Have you done any gigs in Finland or are you going to?
Yes, we've all played in Finland several times with our previous bands, I think I've (Axel Ritt) played seven times in Finland alone.
